evbart.com: Import your kiva account into facebook

  • skylar · 5 months ago
    Hey Evan,

I think people are confused because it's not actually the Kiva "user name" which should be entered, but the Lender ID. Users can find their Lender ID at:

    http://www.kiva.org/myLenderID

or, in the URL of their lender profile page.

    Sorry, capitalization matters:

    Hello Evan
I went to the settings button on my page and in the allowed to post section the Kiva logo is blocked and it won't let me edit it. When I try to add Kiva to my page a message comes up that says something like due to complaints this has been blocked.

Not sure if anything has changed, so I can't confirm, thanks for letting me know.

Is it still broken? Did you make sure you were using the right lenderid, as per Skylar's suggestion above?

Thanks for the tip Evan, but the instructions were incomplete. They should be:
    1) Go to Profile page
    2) Click on Options under the Share Button on the wall
    3) Click on Kiva

Once I used my LenderID on Facebook it worked just fine for me. Thanks for the tip.

Hi Evan, I have one question/observation. When I imported the Kiva loan info - it "backdated" the post. That Is I made the loan on August 6 but it was dated on my wall July 29 (perhaps the date the loan was posted on Kiva?). I figure there is a loss of publicity potential unless I make a loan right after it is posted. Any way of revising that?

    @emily

i don't know if theres any way to backdate it, frankly im not even
sure about what its doing :-)

in a perfect world it would pull in a nice big picture and details of
the loan you just made every time, and then it would post once you got
    repayed!

im sure the publicity from this will keep going up as your friends see
    that you're lending for good!

I don't get a 'settings' button on my Wall - where else can I find it? I can't find anything about stories on my application settings either. Is it an app that I have to have first before I can do the above?
  • evbart · 4 months ago
@mcscott right under the "whats on your mind" field at the top of your
profile, you'll see a buttong called "options"

click this options button, and then you should see the settings button

    so the instructions are

    1) go to your profile page
    2) click on options
    3) click on settings
    4) click on Kiva

    thanks @odojoe !

    Thanks - that worked!

Hmm. I did this, but I can't tell if it has had any effect at all on my Facebook page...what exactly happens?

I have made two loans since I completed this process on Facebook, but have not seen anything "show up" at Facebook to reflect this.

    Jan,
check the dates those loans were originally posted on Kiva and then scroll back down your profile to those dates- I'm guessing you'll find the loans there. - Emily

Yep, check the dates, it tends to insert stuff in chronological order,
so if you've posted things since then on facebook, it could be further
    down the page.
